Embedded Research Solutions Inc's technology focus is on developing the
infrastructure for pervasive computing where dozens and even hundreds of
remote microprocessors can be monitored and controlled in real-time. It
was created as an affiliate of Applied Research
Consultants, Inc. (ARC) to respond to a growing demand for embedded
real-time systems and applications.
ERS's affiliate opened its doors in 1987 specializing in the development
of embedded controls for the pneumatic systems industry. Eventually,
broader demand for its innovative embedded controls and systems provided
ARC with opportunities in other industries and agencies and in small-scale
manufacturing. ARC's diversification over the years led it to focus on
power conversion systems, with its embedded and real-time systems work
becoming the focal point of Embedded Research Solutions. ARC has since
licensed much of its embedded control technology to strategic
partners.
ERS has developed a new generation real-time framework for quite
literally embedding computing and communications technology everywhere,
making it an invisible component of almost anything in anyone`s
surroundings. The company is leading in the miniaturization of the
technology and has focused on key issues such as size, cost, power
requirements, configurability, and ease of deployment. The technology has
been developed with partners such as NASA, the University of Maryland and
the Missile Defense Agency.
Commercial applications are in the area of
energy monitoring where vast networks of nodes need to be set up to
completely survey the desired areas. Such applications have been at the
top of companies' and governments' wish lists, but have not been
affordable by conventional methods.
The underlying Code Foundation and ZEE NetTM communications infrastructure will be used to
develop many other application areas.
